Maureen Cotter, Ed.D. - Vice Chair


Maureen Cotter was first elected to the South Kingstown School Committee in 1998.  Her current term expires in November 2018.

Maureen has over 25 years of experience in education, political and policy advocacy, and governance.   Maureen consults with school boards and executive staff  providing organizational development services, governance and leadership training.  She subscribes to the  belief that "Excellence in the Classroom begins with Excellence in the Boardroom"(Key Work of School Boards).  Maureen is a former high school teacher and educational consultant working with local districts, state and national organizations. 

She earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Johnson & Wales University, Master's degree in Education Administration from Providence College, Master's degree in Physical Education from the University of Rhode Island, and Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Rhode Island College.

Maureen was awarded the National School Board Association Certificate of Distinguished Service in 2013.
