A Message from Assistant Superintendent Linda Savastano

It is truly an honor to serve as the Assistant Superintendent of South Kingstown School District.  South Kingstown School District has a long custom of excellence in all educational endeavors, and I am committed to keeping that tradition alive and well while working diligently to educate ALL of our children in the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure readiness and success in college and career.

At the core of all I do and deep within my heart is a belief in ALL students.  I have great pride in my experience leading a Professional Learning Community to facilitate collaborative leadership, guiding a 21st century digital transformation in alignment with the deeper learning competencies while developing a culture of equity, openness, and sharing of ideas.

Working together, I know that South Kingstown School District will provide the foundation for an exceptional educational experience.  We are committed to working in partnership with families and the entire educational community to educate ALL of our children.  If I can ever be of any help to you or  your child at any time, please, do not hesitate to reach out.

Few school districts can offer what South Kingstown School District can.  The excellence and variety of programs offered by our schools, along with the quality of life in South Kingstown, make our community of South Kingstown a wonderful place to learn, work and live.

Linda Faria Savastano was born and raised in Newport, RI.  She graduated from Rogers High School and then earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Providence College with a major in mathematics and a minor in business and secondary education in 1989.  She earned her Master's Degree in Computing Technology in Education from Nova Southeastern University.  She went on to earn a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (C.A.G.S.) in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State University.

Linda was hired in 1989 to teach mathematics at Middletown High School and served in various positions, at all levels, in the Middletown Public Schools, including computer science teacher and Technology Director.  Beginning in 2003 she managed the MPS Technology Department, and helped to build a network that supports a wired and wireless digital learning environment in every classroom in the district.  She was appointed Assistant Superintendent of Middletown Public Schools in 2008, where she oversaw curriculum, instruction, assessment, grants and technology, among other areas supporting teaching and learning in the school district.  Linda was awarded the International Society of Technology Educators (ISTE)-Making IT Happen Award and was also published in the Journal of Staff Development.

Linda was appointed Assistant Superintendent of South Kingstown School District in June 2019.  She currently serves on the RI School Superintendents' Association (RISSA) Executive Committee and Co-Chairs RISSA's Program Committee.  She has also served on the RI Society of Technology Educators (RISTE) President and on the Executive Committee.

Linda is a proud wife and mother.  She currently lives in Jamestown with her husband Chris, a High School Principal, and her two college aged children.
