Our Guiding Principles
Innovative Student-Centered Learning Grounded in a Collaborative Culture Where ALL MEANS ALL
We envision our learning community to be a joyful place that nurtures the love of learning by providing equitable opportunities for all students to discover their passion as they collaboratively engage in authentic activities in an environment where they feel physically and emotionally safe.
To accomplish this, the PK-12 program will be characterized by
- Personalizing learning opportunities for all students
- Giving students the time and space to move, create and innovate
- Focusing on preparing students for real-world opportunities and careers
- Designing programs and pedagogy to meet the needs of the whole child
- Creating inspiring learning environments for all schools with a near-term emphasis on high school education
- Valuing the unique diversity of each SK village by providing a community-based approach to global learning
About the South Kingstown School Building Committee
In a joint effort between the Town of South Kingstown and the South Kingstown School Department, the schools have been the focus of a Safe, Secure and Healthy Schools Project. This Project is managed by the South Kingstown School Department and advised by the South Kingstown School Building Committee. (The agendas and minutes are available on the South Kingstown School Building Committee here: https://clerkshq.com//Content/SouthKingstown-ri/Boards/SchoolBldg.htm )
South Kingstown's Necessity of School Construction Program
The Necessity of School Construction process is a multi-stage application that requires school departments to conduct thorough facility assessments toward the creation of an efficient and prudent master plan. Once reviewed and vetted, the School Building Authority will recommend projects for approval by the Council on Elementary and Secondary Education. Approved projects are eligible for State aid through one of three mechanisms: Housing Aid reimbursement, School Construction Bond pay-as-you-go funding, or SBA Capital Fund progress payments.
About the School Building Authority (RI Department of Education)
With assistance from the School Building Authority Advisory Board, the School Building Authority will ensure that all approved projects provide high quality learning environments, conserve natural resources, consume less energy, are easier to maintain, and provide educationally appropriate school facilities.
