Health Alert: EEE (UPDATED:September 15, 2019)

SKSD continues responding to EEE / mosquito findings with precautions and smart scheduling
NOTE: Games/Contests and school activities start times and end times will be adjusted

SKSD Athletic Department is working with neighboring communities to continuously monitor the mosquito findings and EEE updates from the RI Department of Health (RIDOH).  We have also advised our athletics department and larger school community to:

1.. Avoid dusk and have all practices done by 6:00 pm (the latest) [Schools should avoid scheduling games and practices during early morning or dusk hours.  RIDOH's recommendation is that these outdoor activities should conclude 30 minutes prior to dusk.  This will help minimize the risk of mosquito bites for players, coaches, officials and spectators alike - which may include individuals more vulnerable to severe illness, such as the elderly and people with weakened immune systems]

2. Games/Activities including night contests WILL be adjusted to also avoid dusk.

3. We will also continue with the following:

  • Recommend to students/players, staff/coaches and fans to wear clothes to cover exposed skin
  • Recommend spray for those that don't cover skin. SKSD Athletic Dept (at games and practices) will also have spray available for those that need it.
  • SKSD will be doing a preventative spray of the school grounds (Sept 16 after 3pm & after ALL students have left) and athletic fields
